Course Information:
Heartsaver® CPR AED (automated external defibulator) is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult and infant. This course teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills. Note: This class requires a sigificant amount of hands-on chest compressions on manikins. (this training may not be for everyone-especially those with mobility limitations who may want to evaluate their ability to progress in this class). We will be using practice AEDs and pocket masks to deliver breaths.
In order to receive an AHA CPR/ AED card, students will be tested on their ability to provide effective CPR and proper usage of an AED. There is no written test.
Heartsaver® First Aid is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. We will also cover relieving choking on an adult.
In order to receive an AHA First Aid card students will be tested on their ability to conduct a few basic first aid tehniques. There is no written test.
