will lead us in a discussion of
"To Plant and To Build"
Jeremiah's two words "build" and "plant", given as a promise of hope to Jews confronting the destruction followed by exile — are words that we can use in thinking about Tu B'Shvat. These words evoke pictures of towering trees as metaphors and as building materials. We will explore some of these plant metaphors and also look at builders in the Tanach who lend the majesty of the trees to their edifices. We will examine the heights and depths to which building can take people, why building is an undertaking so fraught with character pitfalls, and how some have overcome these pitfalls to soar as high as the trees they use to build with.
Cost for Sunday breakfast $10 per person.
Babysitting will be available for $2 per child (please register in advance)
Shabbat T'lamdeini is coordinated with a national program celebrating the contributions women make to our community through Torah learning and leadership.
The Sunday breakfast is also co-sonsored by Ma'ayan, the Boston Women's Torah Study Initiative for Women.
