The Dialogue of Psak: A Talmudic Legacy in American Terms
Through text study and lecture, we will trace two distinct traditions in deciding Halachah. One tradition has relied on the opinions and rulings of past generations while the other has felt lest restricted in its ruling so long as its opinions are firmly rooted in the pages of the Talmud. The tension caused by these traditions has provoked a lively debate throughout the history of Halachah and has found a unique expression over the past century in the United States.
